I looked up this blog’s PageRank and it jumped to PageRank 4 from a measly PageRank 0. It turns after over-analyzing the PageRank update that occured on November 2, it turned out my blog didn’t get the update as quickly as my portfolio site. All that over-analyzing, out the window. But that doesn’t mean we can’t theorycraft about the PageRank update.

What PageRank Hasn’t Changed

Given the few days that I’ve had the 4 PageRank, what hasn’t changed?

  • Both my websites still don’t place first on the Google Search Engine Results Page for “Patrick Burt”. I was dethroned less then a year ago and despite SEO efforts (and now, a substantial PageRank increase), wasn’t able to take back first place.
  • Traffic from Google (and other Search Engines) has not increased and has remained stable

Seeing as how those are two important facets to my blog’s development, I can say that the PageRank boost has not contributed anything so far.

What Didn’t Affect PageRank

Since I’m comparing two sites that are nearly polar opposites, I can try to nail down what appears to have not affect the PageRank:

  • Domain Age
  • Content Quantity
  • Monetization
  • Search Engine Traffic From Google

What Both Sites Did That Affected PageRank

  • Similar Backlinks

That is the only common link that I can establish between the two.

If you’re looking for how to increase your PageRank, I think you’ll get a good return on your time investment if you focus uniquely on getting BackLinks. If you’re interested, click here to view my article for some resources on getting backlinks.

Cheers, hope that helps. :)
