Also a sidenote Claire, I did a quick Google search and if claire-evans.com is your website (which looks nice by the way), your links aren't counted as outlinks as they're done in Flash. Proof:
You can go to: linkfromdomain:claire-evans.com and type in:
linkfromdomain:claire-evans.com

Hi Claire, thanks for the comment. You are absolutely right. I recognize that I was a bit too vague with that section, and what I meant by Link Exchanges are generic link exchange programs where you might end up linking to a florist website.

I should have clarified my post regarding keeping the volume low and keeping it with relevant sites.

Cheers.

"Avoid link exchanges
Some research has shown that Google favors non-reciprocal links. That means, if the links are only coming in one-way, they’re seen as higher quality."

What a bunch of hogwash! what "research" are you referring to? Google has only stated to avoid high volume reciprocal linking to irrelevant sites.

I've got six sites all that reciprocal link..I use linksmanager software to manage it all and my sites are in the top 5 results for my keywords.

Link exchange is alive and well on the web.. but you have to keep the volume low/natural and only link with sites relevant to your own.

Stop spreading such blatant misinformation!
